A digital badge is a visual representation of a soft or hard skill. It’s available online and contains metadata which describes the badge: its meaning, origin and destination. A simple example could be an employer, who wants to certify that his employee has a certain skill. He could use a badge to attest it. Great! But how to be sure that everybody is agreeing on the definition of a skill, quality, etc..? That the badge will be readable everywhere? And, by the way, how can I create a badge? We have a solution!

You can search the exact name of the skill you want to certify via our search engine. The name comes from ESCO: European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations. Navigation is done hierarchically, from top of the tree to bottom.
All the used competences are coming from ESCO. What is ESCO ? ESCO identifies and categorises skills, competences, qualifications and occupations in a standard way, using standard terminology in all EU languages and an open format that can be used by third parties' software. It enables users to exchange CVs and job vacancies stored in different IT systems, between different organisations and all 24 languages of the European Union.
The design of our badges comes from the hierarchy of information in ESCO. The 3 top-categories are used to define the shape of the badge, the background and the icon.

The badges builded by ESCO Badges are based on Open Badges. What is Open Badges?
Open Badges are verifiable, portable digital badges with embedded metadata about skills and achievements. They comply with the Open Badges Specification and are shareable across the web.
Each Open Badge is associated with an image and information about the badge, its recipient, the issuer, and any supporting evidence. All this information may be packaged within a badge image file that can be displayed via online CV’s and social networks.
